Nile is one of the original immortals. On the Advenna Avis, he saves Sylvie from Szilard Quates. He initially had no fear of death because he cannot die and eventually forgot that other people die. He went to various battlefields and fought on the front lines to witness death. After watching his comrades killed in action during several wars, he realized that this is the first time he suffered. He then became terrified and later, emotionless. Nile also seems to be easily provoked into violence. In 2001, he joins Maiza, Czeslaw and Sylvie on their search for Elmer in a strange European village. By the next year, he is in Japan and receives an invitation from Huey to board the cruise ship Exit to the United States. After the hijacking of the ship and its sister ship the Entrance, Nile is detained in the United States.
He wears a decorative mask over his face to protect himself from being "eaten". He does not want one of his friends to accidentally eat him while they're dreaming of food, but he will accept his fate if they willingly choose to eat him. He claims that he is a king and speaks in a peculiar manner, staring most of his sentences with: "I say".
