A young teenage boy ofthe Shirogami family, one of several branch families labeled as descendents of wolves. With wolf blood running in his veins, the "alpha" of his family is about to die, and it is up to him to seek out his long-lost brother, Kokuyou, so that Kokuyou can become the new alpha. On his journey to the city he meets Koyuki, a young girl who held a remnant of his brother's scent. She offers to have Kyounosuke over for a few days at her house in order to get rid of his fever (supposedly from his delicate senses from adjusting to the city's smell.)
