Arata is the (of course) main male character of the story. He dislikes woman from a horrible scene in his past. So to reject the opposite sex, they have to reject him: he wears goofy looking glasses to hide what he really looks like. But after meeting Nika, he was willing to accept her and he develops feeling for her.
