Ren Kosaka is actually Kai's real father who had died in a gun shot. Kai had seen who shot his father, Hal's father, but it was actually a man beside him. Ren was a member of the NARC and was incharge of the "switch" case. But after his death, the case was completly colsed and everything that had left as evidence for that drug had disapeared. The documents were burned and every person related to it had died.
